In our latest HR survey, 74% of respondents said their main IT recruitment challenge was finding qualified developers.
Why? Because demand for programmers is growing at a dizzying pace, whereas the number of available and qualified developers is only just ticking over.
According to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 531,200 new computer science-related jobs will be created between 2019 and 2029. Indeed, the IT employment market is expected to grow 11% over the next decade, largely outrunning any other field or occupation. However, the supply of suitable candidates will not match this increase in demand for tech talent.
It’s a struggle. Partly because there aren’t enough candidates, partly because the available candidates don’t fit the criteria and requirements Talent Acquisition teams expect: lack of requisite soft skills, of experience and/or formal education.
