Your code had two main problems: First, you were buying all three unit types randomly without countering what the enemy was using. The enemy was spamming bowmen, and you weren't using swordsmen which are strong against them. Second, you were trying to upgrade and respawn hero at wrong times, wasting gold that should have been spent on more minions. You also attacked from only one direction, making it easy for enemy to defend. The fix was simple: spam only swordsmen against their bowmen, attack from 8 different angles, and use hero to distract while minions destroy their base. No upgrades, no fancy timing - just pure numbers and multiple attack routes.

Upon reviewing your code, it became clear that the hero and minion logic leaned heavily on static defense, primarily advancing straight forward without considering multi-directional threats. This predictable pattern left exploitable gaps on the board. Resource management and timing were inconsistent. Attempts to respawn or upgrade without sufficient gold led to missed opportunities and slowed overall progress. Minion deployment and hero targeting lacked coordination, reducing battlefield efficiency and enabling the opponent to dominate key areas. Nevertheless, the underlying strategy had potential. By optimizing upgrade timing, enhancing adaptive targeting, and introducing multi-angle movements, the code could effectively control multiple fronts while maintaining continuous pressure. Through iterative adjustments and dynamic strategy application, we were able to turn the tide, applying consistent pressure and capitalizing on weaknesses, which ultimately led to victory. Your code demonstrates strong foundational logic, and with refined resource management and tactical responsiveness, it could operate at a highly competitive, expert level.

Really good game, I can't wait for its publication ! Here are some bugs I found : - Unit ids leak information : [blue_hero_id - 10] leaks the number of mines ; yellow lowest minion id leaks the number of blue minions spawned in the first turn. Solution : blue hero id should always be 20 and blue minion ids should always be even numbers (22, 24, 26...). Yellow hero id should be 21 and yellow minion ids should be 23, 25, 27, etc. - Heroes deal 0 damage when commanded to attack a specific minion - Heroes deal unexpected 50% extra damage against minions when given the "COMMAND -1" command. - Vision bug : heroes cannot see neutral mines even within a 100 radius (the bug might also apply to minons and opponent mines) Great work anyway, I hope the final version gets published soon !

I think that this is a really good game. Here are a few things thing's I've noticed while playing it (it's possible that someone has already pointed them out): * Statement -> Units: You mention four types of unit, but you don't provide a number for the 'type' attribute of mines (although it's provided in 'Game Input'). * Statement -> Fighting: The fifth point about how the automatic attack algorithm functions is the same as the fourth. * And of course, the error I gave you in previous comment. One more thing: do you have any control over the ranking system, or is it purely on the CG's side? I'm beating people in first places, but can't move up in the leaderboard.

Try using some other games from the community as a base (not this one because it is hacky) - maybe some simple board game - you can download source codes for most of them / find them on GitHub. I suppose the TTT example is totally old, and can not work for years. Not sure though - I probably never used it as a base for my projects.

In your description in chapter "Fighting" I think there is a small mistake: bullet point 4 and 5 are the same. The fifth point should talk about minions with a higher type. And in chapter "Game Input" the first four names of the variables are not the same as the names in the given code snippet (no. of gold and units). That's just y very small thing :):). But it triggers me..

The game idea seems interesting and well thought out. The addition of different unit types with unique strengths and weaknesses adds an additional layer of strategy, and the ability to command an army of minions and a hero unit provides a good balance between direct control and indirect management. One possible improvement could be to provide players with more variety in maps and terrain could add complexity and diversity to gameplay.

When I saw the length of the rule I thought that it would be very complex to understand but it is not after reading it. However implementing a good AI for it must be complex and I fear that some games may be a bit messy and hard to follow (especially upgrades). Two comments: * In the fighting algorithm, the rules 4 and 5 are identical. Is it normal ? * I ran the bot once (without modifying the code) and I won (seed=4799728601069630000). Maybe the default bot is too weak.

I'm enjoying this one, although I will say that I think the description page is a little daunting - it's so long, it might scare off some otherwise-interested parties, which would be a shame because it is a good exercise.

Any ideas on how to make it short while still providing all of the rules? Yeah, I know the game is complicated to read- but can be easy to play.

Hero combat vs minion seems broken: - "COMMAND -1 {position}" deals 1.5x more damage than expected against minions - "COMMAND {target} {position}" deals 0 damage when target is a minion

Nice work ! I see a couple issues with how unit ids are generated: - Hero ids give away the number of mines on the map - Minion ids give away the number of minions bought by opponent. E.g if yellow hero id is 21 and his first minion has id 25 then yellow knows that blue has bought 3 minions. The yellow player even gets an advantage because his minions are bought after blue's. - Opponent minion ids also give away a lower bound on the number of other minions. E.g blue does not buy minions, then later in the game the blue hero (id: 21) scouts a yellow minion (id: 30). Blue knows that yellow has at least 8 other minions. My suggestion: - Always give hero ids 99 and 100 - Give blue minions the id (101 + 2*(random unique number)) - Give yellow minions the id (102 + 2*(random unique number))

I would think about this further, but this is partially appreciated - I planned to allow people to think in such a way and implement proper reasoning for some information gain.

Yeah, but until CG fixes the ability to use Buffered Group as masks in Java it stays like is. The game is nearly done, on my todolist I have rewriting a few things to js, and optimizing java->js protocol plus adding proper toggles. And of course, tweaking numbers. For now, I am afraid that there is still too many minions possible to buy and prices should be somehow increased...
