✅ Approved the contribution. Comment: I loved it, I'm a fan of chess myself and it's always nice seeing some chess puzzles here. It was quite a challenge tbh, even if I used some code I had from another puzzle. Loved the graphics too, it's never necessary but it's a lovely addition. Great game overall

I like it. Simple rules, minimalistic input and probably quite challenging to find the optimal moves.

Why not use hard positions? For example (checkmate after 15 moves): FEN: 8/8/8/8/8/8/2k5/KR6 w - - 0 1 https://www.shredderchess.com/...

Because it is then too hard to perform a search given CodinGame time and memory constraints. I initially planned this but abandoned the test cases during the puzzle development.

Noticed a few typos/clunky sentences. Consider: "You need to take into account opponent, who may try to prolong the play and achieve draw when possible." -> "You need to consider an opponent, who may try to prolong play and achieve a draw when possible." "After each white move, an opponent replay will be given in the same format." -> "After each white move, black's reply will be given in the same format." "If black player makes a suboptimal move, so the quicker checkmate becomes possible, your program have to take advantage of this." -> "If the black player makes a suboptimal move and a quicker checkmate becomes possible, you should find the faster checkmate." Overall it looks good!

Those tests 'Mate depth 13' looks like at least 15 moves with best black choices. Could you verify them?

hey aCat Great animation, looks awesome. Would be handy if there was an input with max available moves per test. Also board labels on replay screen (a-h 1-8), not only mouseover tooltip

About max moves per test... I considered that and rejected the idea - it could speed up things for smaller depth, but you have to be able to reach a certain depth (13) anyway, and partially finding the right depth Is part of the task. Your concern about the coordinates is probably true - but I will not add them as there were not in the graphics package ;].
