There was some discussion on that chat about also having Atari Go 9x9 as a separate game until the top league. Given the huge space and branching of 19x19, it could be interesting to have both, for instance to compare how different search techniques perform in each case. Gevater_Tod4711, since you wrote this game, would you consider to release a separate 9x9 too?

Shure I can do that :) So the new game should have only 9x9 fields. I think it should also have a view leagues. Maybe with different numbers of turns to be played? Any more suggestions, or feature requests that I could add? :)

Comment: I acceppt this contribution, because: - The description is clear, go is easy to understand and incredibly hard to master, you can find plenty of sources online for this game and watch alphago beat us all - The default code should work for all languages (checked the stub) - The referee didn't fail me once - The contribution is missing on this platform - My own AI is working (while not being very smart) - Go is awesome

There is a bug on CG side handling stub, the C default generated code is not right. The boardSize variable at top is named board_size, but the code inside the fgets in the for loop is not right. for (int i = 0; i < board_size; i++) { char line[board_size + 1]; fgets(line, boardSize + 1, stdin); } I will report this on CG Discord.

The boardSize input is in the stub game loop (although the statement says it's outside). It should be given only once

Thanks for the hint! :) It seems that when I change the language to any language, and then back to java the wrong stub is used (boardSize in gameloop). But when I reset the code it uses the correct stub (boardSize outside of gameloop). I think my stub.txt configuration is correct: read myColor:string(1) read boardSize:int gameloop read opponentX:int opponentY:int read myScore:int opponentScore:int loop boardSize read line:string(boardSize) write PASS STATEMENT ... So I don't realy know why this problem occurs or what I can do about this. Might this be a bug in codingame, that causes to use an old version of the stub, somehow?

Only a few hours left and the game is not yet approved although people like it (see upvotes and comments). You should be aware that your referee crashes sometimes because it sends too much data to the viewer. This is a clear reason not to approve. That does not mean the game is bad per se. Please fix the issue and resubmit the game.

Thanks for the hint :) I thought that I had fixed this, but apparently this problem is still there. I'll fix this and submit the game for approvement again when it's running correctly.

Hello Gevater_Tod4711, The boss of the second level for 9x9 is good to make a selection of the bots before the third level. I have a question : Is the 19x19 for the third level not too much for 100 ms ? 13x13 can be enough for 200 turns (only twice the number of locations than in 9x9)

Hi trictrac, I agree, 19x19 is realy much for 100ms, but that is just what I intended. So you can't just use a min-max or calculate every possible move, because it would take to long. So I think I'll leave the 19x19 board in the last level, but I might add a new level in between with a 13x13 board. Thanks for the feedback :)

This game is a nice idea i appreciate this idea graphics looks good.Rules are are also good but some improvements 1-Boss 1 has bugs-when someone is playing just pass then your boss 1 timeouts you can check it and then fix it 2-int boardSize; // the size of the board (width and height) cin >> boardSize; cin.ignore(); why are you giving this each time you can put this in initializing input once in a game i.e. before game loop 3- and in case if you want to make game a bit tougher remove opponent score and my score because you are giving board info so everyone can make out my score and opponent scores

Thanks for the Feedback! :) I'll improve the boss and move the boardSize input to the initial inputs. But I think I'll leave the score inputs as they are, because it's a multiplayer game, where the difficulty should be to play better than your opponent and not calculate the current score of the game... I think it's already quite hard to check for all rules.

I wanted to do a league based system, where you start on a 9x9 field with only 80 turns and go to a 19x19 field with 200 turns in the next league. But I'm still working on this one.

Hello Gevater_Tod, 3 points to signal : 1) the default AI makes time-out near the 80 step limits (it's hard for him to compute a move when the board is allmost full ?!) 2) is the "PASS" action only when no move is possible or is "PASS" a valid action even if other moves are possible ? (I think the first assert is better) 3) is the limit of 80 steps the right one ? When stones are taken many playable positions remains availables @ step 80.

Hello Gevater_Tod, - I have never played Go before but I think you should give the scores of each players in the turn inputs. - When does the game end? When there are no empty places on the board? - What if the player cannot play? Is it allowed to pass? Many questions even for a simplified game rule.

Giving the score to the players sounds like a good idea. I'll add that. The game ends after 80 turns (40 stones for each player), because there are 81 fields on the board. That makes it nearly impossible to have no position to place your stone. But I maybe add a passing move anyway. I'll add that to the description. Thanks for the feedback :)

Defaut AI seems bugged and allways time-out. Perhaps just play a random move can be a solution for a start

I updated the AI. It's only randomly placing stones now.
